Family Therapy

Family therapy can be helpful when you feel stuck in the same conflicts, misunderstandings, or patterns with the people you love. It creates a space where everyone can feel heard while exploring how family dynamics, communication styles, and past experiences shape the way you relate to one another. Together, we can work on communicating more openly, setting healthier boundaries, repairing relationships, and creating new ways of responding to conflict. Family therapy isn’t about deciding who’s right or wrong, it’s about understanding the system you’re part of and finding a healthier way forward together.

Family Communication

Family conflict can leave you feeling frustrated, unheard, or like you’re constantly walking on eggshells. Maybe you’re struggling with parent-adult child conflict, sibling conflict, difficult family conversations, or communication problems that seem to repeat themselves no matter how hard you try. As a family therapist, I can help you understand the patterns underneath the conflict and develop healthier ways to communicate, listen, and respond to one another. We’ll work on expressing your needs, navigating difficult conversations, and creating more respectful and connected family relationships. You don’t have to keep having the same conversation, you can learn a different way of relating to each other.

Family Boundaries

Setting boundaries with family can be especially difficult when you’ve spent years being the caretaker, the dependable one, or the person everyone turns to. You may struggle with family boundaries, people-pleasing, guilt, enmeshment, or feeling responsible for other people’s emotions. In family therapy, we’ll explore the dynamics that shaped these patterns and help you understand what is yours to carry, and what isn’t. We’ll work on setting healthy boundaries, communicating your limits, and staying connected to your family without constantly sacrificing your own needs and well-being. You can love your family, stay connected, and still have boundaries that protect your peace.

Family Roles, Expectations & Identity

Families can give us a sense of belonging, but they can also come with expectations about who we’re supposed to be. Maybe you’ve always been the good daughter, responsible one, peacekeeper, caretaker, or family fixer, and you’re beginning to question whether those roles still fit who you are. As a therapist working with women and families, I can help you explore how family roles, expectations, and generational patterns continue to influence your relationships and sense of self. Together, we’ll make space for you to develop your own identity, communicate your needs, and create healthier family relationships without losing yourself in the process. You can honor where you came from without letting your family’s expectations determine who you become.

Divorce, Separation & Changing Family Systems

Divorce and family transitions can change the relationships, routines, and roles you once took for granted. Whether you’re navigating divorce, separation, co-parenting, or a blended family, therapy can provide a space to work through conflict, communicate more effectively, and adjust to your family’s changing needs. We’ll explore how to establish healthy boundaries, navigate difficult conversations, and create more stability and connection during a major life transition. I can also help parents and family members work through the emotional challenges that come with creating a new family structure while keeping relationships respectful and supportive. Your family may look different than it once did, but different doesn’t have to mean disconnected.
